Bio
Aggelika Korovessi was born in Pirgos, Ileia and lives and works in Athens.
She studied at the School of Fine Arts of Athens aſter receiving a full scholarship from
the state and she graduated with honours. She continued her studies in the studios
of the School of Fine Arts learning to work with ceramic, plaster, copper, she received
all the respective diplomas she also studied History of Art.
She holds the title of Anthropologist - Sculptress, offered to her by the Anthropological Association
of Greece, for her work in the Cave of Petralona in Chalkidiki.
PROFESSIONAL OCCUPATION
1976-8: Collaborates with anthropologists and palaeontologists to create represantations of the Archanthropus of Petralona for the Anthropological Museum of Petralona, Chalkidiki
1981: Designs and supervises the construction of showcases Anthropological Museum of Petralona, Chalkidiki
1982: Declares her aforementioned occupation in the First Anthropological Convention of Greece
1981-5: Teaches secondary schools and presents her innovative paper on the teaching of art before a convention of art teachers
1990: Teaches sculpture in the Modern Art Laboratory of Kos
1993: Designs an industrial object for Kraſt General Foods Hellas
1994: Creates the medals of the summit meeting of the EEC
2008: Creates the awards for the International Film Festival of Olympia for Adolescents and Children
2009: Presents her conceptual work “The image of the Voice” in an event entitled When the vibration of the Greek Language becomes inspiration or a work of art “in the convention ” Greek Language, Writing and Art organized by the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece
2017: Participates in “From the vineyard to the theater” Kostas Kazamiakis diskusses with artitsts in the bookstore Ianos, Athens

1989: Distinction alongside a group of artists by the Schoolbook

1991: Presented with the Nazionale Premio “Arte e Sport” in Italy
1994: Represents Greece in the 4th Sculpture Trienale in France
1996: Receives a United Nations Peace Medal for her contribution to the UNESCO Club of Dodekanisa
1999: Presented with an award from the Council of Historical Memory for the struggle of the National Organization of Cypriot Fighters, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus
2001: Represents Greece in the outdoors exhibition of modern sculpture of member countries of the EU entitled “Connecting Worlds”, in the Kennendy Center, Washington, United States of America
2002: Distinction for her sculpture “Paz” which was selected for the Collection of the Gallery of the Municipality of Athens, in the contest “Asking for the Olympic Idea”
2004: Illustration of the covers for the school dictionary for the first three grades of primary school as well as the cover of the teacher’s book on PE for middle school
2008: Silver medalist in the World Sculpture Contest, conducted as part of the Olympic Games in Beijing
2017: First prize in a national contest organized my Marina of Kos
